Robert Herjavec, businessman, investor, television personality, dancer and author are men who rose from nothing through hard work and smarts to success, fame and recognition after spending his youth in a classroom relatively average.

Born September 14, 1962, Robert is a Croatian-Canadian, originally from Varazdin, Socialist Republic of Croatia, Yugoslavia. He moved to Hálifax, Canada with his family when he was 8 years old in 1970 and knew no English after living on a farm. In 1984, he earned a double degree in political science and English from New College at the University of Toronto.

He began his business career as an assistant director and film producer and was honored as one of the youngest Olympic coverage producers before joining Logiquest, selling IBM and Mainframe emulation cards. Previously, he had been rejected at Logiquest because he was underqualified but somehow he convinced them to allow him to work for free for six months and gradually became the general manager of Logicest.

Robert would later found his own company out of BRAK Systems, a Canadian internet security software integrator that moved into his basement in 1990 after being fired from Logiquest. In March 2000, he sold BRAK Systems to A&T Canada for $32.2 million. Taking a break from the business world and staying home for three years to take care of his three children, he regained his entrepreneurial spirit and went on to found another company in 2003 with just 3 employees.

Haverjac Group is a security solutions integrator, reseller and managed services provider, of which he is currently the CEO.According to the Branham Group, it is one of the fastest growing technology companies in Canada and the largest IT security provider in the country.The Herjavec Group (THG) grew from three employees in 2000 to 300 employees in 2016, with a growth rate of 643% from 2007 to 2012.and sales ranging from $400,000 in 2003 to over $125 million in 2012.

He has appeared regularly on the Canadian CBC television series Dragon’s Den and in America on the ABC version of Shark’s Tank.

Author of three books; Driven: How to Succeed in Business and Life (2010) and The Will to Win: Lead, Compete, Succeed (2013). His latest book, published in March 2016, is titled “You Don’t Have to Be a Shark: Creating Your Own Success”. In these books, he shares the principles of work and life to be rich and prosperous.

He participated in season 20 of Dancing with the Stars.

Robert owns a home in Bridle Path, Toronto area which has been home to the likes of Michael Bublé and John Travolta. Herjavec bought the house for $7.5 million in 2000.
