On January 12, 1954, in the Queens neighborhood of Jackson Heights, New York City, Howard Stern was born. Stern is Ray and Ben Schiffman’s second child. His parents are Jewish, and their ancestors hail from Poland and Hungary, respectively. His mother worked as a secretary in a New York City office. His father was a radio engineer at WHOM in Manhattan after serving in the army during World War II. Aura Recording Inc., a recording studio in Manhattan where commercials and cartoons were produced, was another business he co-owned. Ellen, Howard’s older sister, is also a person.
